Crate Designs carries on a tradition of producing quality Canadian furniture at our factory in Chesley, Ontario - since 1906! The company was formed as The Chesley Chair Company, producing chairs for other furniture manufacturers. As the product line was broadened beyond just chairs the name was changed to Heirloom of Canada. After discontinuing the Heirloom line of traditional styles in the 1990's, to concentrate on Crate furniture, the name was changed to Crate Designs™.

Crate™ is characterized by its clean, simple lines and durable oil finish. The furniture has a hand-crafted look and feel, with sizes designed to make it easy for you to mix and match.

Our quality construction begins with carefully selected southern Yellow Pine, ideal for long lasting furniture. Veneered panels are used on doors and most tops, for easier cleaning and greater stability.

The standard Classic oil finish* is simple and easy to care for - the inevitable scrape or scratch is almost invisible. Premium finishes add a touch of sheen, smoothness and a moderate amount of moisture resistance. You can also choose a lacquer finish on most tops or order your furniture pieces unfinished to personalize them yourself!
