Walnut veneer is a a fine layer of walnut applied to a particle board which gives it the look of solid wood at a fraction of the price. This process allows it a high tolerance for variations in humidity. It still requires some precautions to preserve it. Using a placemat, a trivet or a tablecloth is recommended.
